Terminé le temps ou seuls les Américains savaient satisfaire les acheteurs de camionnettes; les Japonais se sont sérieusement ajustés ! Avec sa Dakota, Dodge offre un V8 que seul le diminutif combo Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon peut proposer; un point pour l’américaine. Cependant, l’avantage ne s’arrête là. Si les capacités de remorquage et de chargement se comparent à l’offre japonaise, le confort et la douceur de roulement ne sont plus des caractéristiques uniquement proposées par l’américaine. Les Toyota Tacoma et Nissan Frontier ont tout pour ébranler l’hégémonie affaiblie de l’ex-numéro 1 de la catégorie. L’annonce d’une toute nouvelle Dakota ne presse pas; elle urge !
